Heart’s Content

If you are looking for a place to get married or have your wedding reception in Canton, MS there are two great historic homes that can accomodate your special day.  Heart’s Content and the Jiggets Home aka the Jiggets House.  These two homes are three houses away from each other, so if you are having your wedding at the Jiggets Home, you can have your honeymoon night at Heart’s Content which is also a bed and breakfast.  Heart’s Contents four guest rooms are also great to have your friends, family, bridal party stay and be close to all the preparations and festivities.  The Jiggets Home is catered by Loose Ends Catering and Wedding Services exclusively, and Heart’s Content has a list of approved caterers and will work with the bride to ensure her event has great food.

I went searching for a Bed and Breakfast in Madison MS

Friday, July 24th, 2009

What I found when searching for bed and breakfast in Madison, MS was another mention of the Gluckstadt Inn, which I believe to be closed.  From Madison, you are a 15 minute drive North on I-55 or Hwy 51 to Canton and Heart’s Content Bed and Breakfast.  Madison has a lot of great restaurants and shopping.  We would be happy to make recommendations to our guests.  We like to shop locally in Canton MS as much as possible, but a small town needs help from a big town from time to time.

It appears there used to be a bnb in gluckstadt called the Gluckstadt Inn.  I googled it and their website is no longer available, so I think they are closed.  If you are looking for a bnb, Heart’s Content is about 10 minutes North on Hwy 51 from Gluckstadt.

Etc… Gift Shop and Small Town Music

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

One of my favorite places to shop in Canton is Etc… gift shop, located in an old Gin on Peace street. Its definitely the funkiest store in Canton, full of fun stuff like soy candles, bamboo clothing, vintage dresses, small collectibles and local artwork. Right next door is Small Town Music, equally as unique. Susan and Frazier Riddell are the owners of the Old Paragon Gin which was operational for many years and was run by Frazier’s father. They have truly transformed an historic landmark  into a plaza of coolness with their gift shop and music store. They also host events at the old Gin.They might even give you a quick tour of the cotton gin if you ask. Definitely worth a stop!!!local artwork
