The temperatures are starting to break here in the deep south. We’re starting to get more reservations for folks riding bicycles and motorcycles on the Trace. We are located about 7 miles from milepost 115, and it is a reasonable ride to downtown Canton on Hwy 43 and neighborhood streets. There is a convenient park for resting at this milepost, and we offer a pick up service for a limited number of cyclists. We have single rooms, a two room suite for parties travelling together, a massage therapist on staff from Heartsong Massage Therapy, and a big breakfast to get you back on your way. Come check us out.

Friday, September 11th, 2009Fox Hunting in Madison County
Thursday, September 10th, 2009Wow! I thought Fox Hunting was something only rich people did in the English countryside. How cool is it that there is real life, old world fox hunting right here in Madison County, Mississippi! The Choula Houma Hunt was begun in 1980 by the late Mrs. Alex S. Payne, who was a fox hunting legend in these parts. Choula Houma Hunt currently has 32 members and they welcome guests to come ride with them. Brandywine Stables, located in Canton, Mississippi, are members of the Choula Houma Hunt and provide fox hunting services, as well as boarding and trail riding. A day of fox hunting followed by an evening in an original 1903 Manor could be pure heaven.

The Canton train depot museum
Tuesday, June 30th, 2009The Depot was built in 1890 and in 1926 the north and south buildings were added. The Illinois Central Railroad Company owned and maintained the depot until 1991 when it was purchased by the Canton Redevelopment Authority.
The restoration was completed in June, 1999. The museum reflects the history of Madison County and how the “iron horse” affected social and economic growth and development, particularly the area in and around Canton.
Also, the museum has a few working model trains set up.
