Biking and motorcycle trips on the Natchez Trace Parkway

September 11th, 2009

The temperatures are starting to break here in the deep south.  We’re starting to get more reservations for folks riding bicycles and motorcycles on the Trace.  We are located about 7 miles from milepost 115, and it is a reasonable ride to downtown Canton on Hwy 43 and neighborhood streets.  There is a convenient park for resting at this milepost, and we offer a pick up service for a limited number of cyclists.  We have single rooms, a two room suite for parties travelling together, a massage therapist on staff from Heartsong Massage Therapy, and a big breakfast to get you back on your way.  Come check us out.

Fox Hunting in Madison County

September 10th, 2009

Wow! I thought Fox Hunting was something only rich people did in the English countryside. How cool is it that there is real life, old world fox hunting right here in Madison County, Mississippi!  The Choula Houma Hunt was begun in 1980 by the late Mrs. Alex S. Payne, who was a fox hunting legend in these parts. Choula Houma Hunt currently has 32 members and they welcome guests to come ride with them. Brandywine Stables, located in Canton, Mississippi, are members of the Choula Houma Hunt and provide fox hunting services, as well as boarding and trail riding.  A day of fox hunting followed by an evening in an original 1903 Manor could be pure heaven.

Congratualtions Ivy and Michael!

September 9th, 2009

Ivy Sanford and Michael Pitts were married at Heart’s Content Bed & Breakfast in Canton, Mississippi on Saturday, September 5th, 2009 at 4:00 pm. They had a lovely garden ceremony with a Parlor reception following. The wedding cake was stacked with 3 blue tiers and the groom’s cake was designed to look like a stump, at the request of the groom, who loves hunting. Ivy’s bouquet was blue hydrangeas and her wedding dress was knee length and white cotton with an eyelet trim. Ivy remarked that her wedding was perfect! Good luck Ivy and Michael! We are glad we could help make your wedding day special and we hope you have many happy years together!

Christine’s Back Porch restaurant is exactly that. It gives you the southern feel of being at home and enjoying traditional soul food cooking. The restaurant is located in an antebellum style home that was built in 1838. The restaurant itself has been open for seven years. Besides the cozy decor, customers can enjoy the soft blues, jazz, gospel or classical music in the background. Christine’s also caters various events.
